Sunshine after rain
I just remembered something beautiful from this morning - it was drizzly and very cloudy this morning when the kids went to school (and before that, when I had to take out a poopy diaper), but later when I was in the kitchen, I looked in the back yard and the sun was dazzling. The wet grass was sparkling and it looked stunning, like there had never been a cloud in the sky. I loved it.
It's been a pretty eh day. I've been able to spend a bunch of time in my book, which is lovely, but I'm tired from staying up last night (with my 5yo until almost 11, and then another half hour before I was drowsy). And my stomach has been a little weird today. Maybe because of all the bread I ate, or maybe I ate the bread because I was feeling a little funny? Not really pain, except once this morning, but a little queasy off and on. Still, it's not bad if I'm not thinking about it. Took my oldest to get smoked sausage, since her dad ate the last of it yesterday and she was craving some. (But then I kind of burned it, oops.) Made the sausage and pancakes for dinner and ate some. But then sometimes I feel like burping and it's stuck, and when I try to force it I feel like I might actually throw up. So maybe I should have made dinner, oops, germs and all that. My bad.
Oh I also learned something fun today - tea leaves have caffeine as an insect repellent. Neat! Which is why early leaf harvests have high caffeine levels, since they don't have other effective defenses. And I think there might be something about the smell that's released by it that warns nearby plants? I love fun facts, Which is really, fun things that I don't know. Info-dumping? Yes please. Especially about non-fiction stuff, it's hard for me to absorb that in a book. (I read part of a tree book, which was incredibly fascinating, but I can barely read fiction books that hold my interest. Maybe some day I'll get to the ones about how intelligent ocean life is or how rage is actually healthy.)
